Training BIPOC Mental Health Professionals in EMDR Therapy to expand trauma treatment for underserved populations
MISSION
BIPOC+ Minds Matter has been organized to provide access to education for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of color) therapists. More specifically the organization will provide benevolent support through distributions that will cover the costs of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) Therapy training. Access to continued education will help create viable structural change in the mental health field with an increase diversity, equity, and inclusion to better serve individuals in undeRserved communities.
ACTION
EMDR is an evidenced-based therapy recognized by the World Health Organization as an effective treatment for PTSD that includes complex trauma resulting from systemic racism and oppression.

BIPOC+ Minds Matter provides EMDR Therapy training to licensed and pre-licensed therapists.

Training includes:

6 full days of training, with10 hours of required consultation.

Up to 60 therapists per class.

Additional consultation for clinicians that have interest in becoming Consultants, Practicum Facilitators and Trainer.

To date, 58 Therapists of Color have been fully trained with a waitlist to fill 7 classes. In addition, 1/3 of the therapists we have trained have begun the process of becoming Consultants, Training Facilitators and Trainers.
